Faber and Faber
A unique pack of poetic playing cards
The Faber Poetry series was originally designed by Pentagram’s Justus Oehler. The colour and typography which is unique to each poetry title lent itself to a playful, pattern-making, new typography solution for this project.
Print and packaging played a key part in creating variety in this project. Because the card boxes were 8-up on the die this meant it was possible to have unique colourways for 8 boxes. The display carton (16 packs) reflected this variety from all angles with the ff logo positioned almost at random.
The cards themselves were carefully colour coordinated with tints taken from the main author/cover title backgrounds. The Joker is seen dropping Faber logos onto the globe.
